This meetings computer related subject is Freeware presented by club member Joe Mezzacappa. Freeware is defined as a software/program that can be downloaded free of charge, at least the basic version. If there is a "professional edition" that upgrade is usually charged for. Getting started, use www.google.com as your search engine. Under google, search for pricelessware. The program titles that will appear are recommended by a monitoring group (alt.comp.freeware users) for content and legitimacy of purpose. Joe discussed three of these freeware programs that he uses extensively and finds very valuable. A brief summary follows.

1. P C Clock Enhancement (Tclockex)

A new format to display clock and calendar on your PC screen. It is a replacement for the operating system clock normally shown on the tool bar, lower right corner of monitor screen.

2. PowerDesk 4

Described as a file enhancement program. Mouse pointer highlight lets user read a file
without using a program to open it. Might require quick view plus program, usually part of Windows 98 operating system. Provides these shortcuts, a drive bar, a launch bar, a status bar and a tool bar on same screen. Any of which can be accessed from the one screen.

3.YankeeClipper lll

Provides permanent storage for files and /or backup for your files. A very versatile program for file transfer to other programs. Open and play around with it. Site has an excellent help menu that explains the depth and power of the program.

If any club member has questions about these three Freeware programs, Joe would be happy to answer them through his E-mail. Additional recommended Freeware programs are as follows:
