July 9, 2001 Meeting

The Waccamaw Neck Computer Club met at the Pawleys Island Library at 9:30am on July 9, 2001.  The scheduled speaker was Sean Morrison from Radio Shack Service in Charlotte. Due to the death of an employee’s family member he was unable to make the meeting.

Two new members attend this mornings meeting.  We would like to welcome Joyce Perry  and Les Goodchild to the Waccamaw Neck and to the WNCC.

Clem Thoennes was again our instructor for today’s meeting.   He demonstrated Microsoft Word and entertained questions about the program; pointing out most of the capabilities of Word accessible through the menu bar. Those of us already using Word now have a better grasp of the program, it’s capabilities and how to find them. The members that are new to the program should now be able to start using it; knowing its capabilities and how to go about finding them.

There was a discussion at the meeting about image editors. The summer issue of BLink, Earthlings Magazine, has a section on free sites and online tools. They have three free online image editors listed. They are:

         Adobe: Save for Web – http://webservices.adobe.com/save4web/main.html 

         GIFWorks – http://www.gifworks.com

         myimager.com – http://www.myimager.com  

As I don’t know of anyone that has any experience with these, you are on your own using them.
